I Found You

By the white cloth

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I’m not sure how you found me Or is it that I found you? I’m not sure we suspected this But from such things our love grew I’m not sure I was a free-man But I know I’m now a slave My heart and soul have sold me out My permission I would have gave I was standing in the chains of loneliness Even though not quite alone But my heart could sense this magic there Through the email and then the phone I was bound in my self-made dungeon Naked for the world to see Thinking there was no hope and then You came and rescued me And I know this feeling’s mutual And I know the things you’ve said And I know the miracle of this love Has raised me from the dead And I know just how my heart leaps At the mere sound of your voice And I know the thoughts that fill my soul And then cause it to rejoice For my eyes behold your beauty And my ears capture your sound My mouth has tasted of your sweetness And you’re the purest taste I’ve found And my hands know how to love you And when you tremble and call my name I lead you through to passions rich And I’ll do it all again I would travel the world over Crawling on hands and knees If it meant a moment of joy to you I would cause all hell to freeze I will never cease to love you Not so long as I draw breath And my spirit’s vow is longer still Love does not have to stop at death I know you’ve felt it’s power I know you’ve touched it’s flames And I know that you’re amazed like me Destiny has called our names Is it that we were yielded vessels Is it that our needs are unique I do know that my life before Had gotten so very bleak But now I’m so full of passion My heart has renewed desire My life has found it’s direction now My soul has soared never higher And it’s all because I found you Or is it that you found me? Where we blessed by happenstance Or were we meant to be? It’s not all that important now Our love is in full bloom I happen to know ‘twas guided by Love Birthed of a holy womb But this magic that so enthralls us Has upon us etched our names And the Love that so blessed our lives Now fuels our eternal flames And it is all because I found you And it’s also that you found me And the time was right and we were ripe Like sweet fruit upon a tree And I know we’ve both had failures And we’ve known our share of pain But through the fires of hell we came Sweet peace we did attain And I know your name’s here on me Etched right here on my heart And I know I’ve left my mark on you With love I did impart But that love was fueled by you Your soul cried out to mine And mine answered the call you gave Urged on by Love divine And I’m glad that you did find me And I’m glad that I found you And I’m glad that passions filled our lives And bound us as with glue And you know how much I love you Though the words fail to convey Every time I try to tell you more The hours just slip away But I know that you can sense it As our spirits have their commune Two hearts that have now beat as one Two souls that are in tune And I know just where to find you And you know for sure I will I’ve had this empty, vacant place That just your love can fill And I’m so very glad you found me And I’m glad that I found you...January 2002, This is one of those poems that wrote itself... I just sat and let the words leap from my fingers to the keyboard... and had I not forced myself to stop, might STILL be writing it! Written March 2nd, 2002 © on Mar 02 2002 11:43 AM PST   0 • 8
