Chrysalis (Assembly of Limbs)
By thepawn
When we came here Candy canes and sugar drops Glazed over, unmolded Fed from puddles day to day Some refused to lap up the fluids Some sucked them dry For some, they were just not enough On some days, these puddles were sour On other days, crusted over We found that All our orifices crystallized And we took on a new face As the new limbs snapped into place Legs to walk many miles Arms to lift many boulders Hands to craft our own fates From cradle to playground From hallway to alleyway From the paved lane To the unknown expanses To the stellar highways The monsters rear their heads From the carcass of our fears Let it rot beside our innocence Happiness is slowly stoked Like a furnace, fed by hope The path we tread winds like The blood in our veins And is shaped by our sweaty hands Even when the path is straight No one said you had to traverse it Even when this path leads to a tombstone Our lifeless grasp will hold the weight Until the future has the power to bear it Written November 21st, 2001 © on Nov 21 2001 03:04 AM PST 0 • 12
