Faded Looking Glass
By thepawn
Long ago and far away I can still see your face We were the same back then We are so different now The world seemed like such a different place Your face is so youthful My face has painfully aged We were once one person; we walked as one And wondered how the world turned Time has passed so swiftly And my eyes have turned gray Your time stands still, your eyes are bright, Go on and play Ignorance and innocence are all that I see in you I still may be ignorant, but my innocence has faded As I toil under books, choices, and consequences Heed not my call for help Your memory will only wear me down Stay in your sandbox and idle the day away I'll stay in my metal box, my cage You seem so free, but your mind is in shackles I look so consumed, but my mind runs rampant Who is better off? You are just a distant me Preserved and pickled, stretched and outgrown A persistent memory Written November 20th, 2001 © on Nov 20 2001 07:20 AM PST 0 • 10
