For The Moment
By thespin
The rains came. Drops. Slivers. Small, transparent. Cutting our world in two. The winds blew. Rattling. Shaking.Bellowing. Moving foundations. Gutters filled. Sewers overflowed. Debris and mud dissolved. Washed away. We slept. Safe and warm. Pretzels in a bed. A rented woman. A fast-talking man. Half buried in the covers. Darkness surrounding us. The scent of our bodies between us. We forgot the many cliffs. The lurking endless tomorrows, The thousand yesterdays. We were never angels, you and I. You whispered. "I love you." I whispered in return. "Same here, baby." Written October 14th, 2001 © on Oct 14 2001 02:16 AM PST 0 • 8
