FIRE IN MY BONES
By Thom
FIRE IN MY BONES Do you know what it is like to be alone? To view yourself, as you have grown. The fire of the sun can light up the sky, You may look at yourself and wonder why. There is fire in my bones, It keeps me alive. There is fire in my bones, This is how I survive. Have you ever gazed to the heavens, and asked yourself why? Have you ever looked to the sky, and started to cry? Are we just alone in the universe, Is this the way we measure our worth? A distant planet far away, Will we be lead there someday. Find someone close, somebody you admire, Have them fill their breath with fire. Like the hot lava melting a stone, Let them breathe fire in your bones. Their breath of air, May take you somewhere, you may never have been before. Have them blow a fiery score. Feel the burning sensation, as it moves to your chest, Do not move. Now is the test. Throughout your body, this fire will pass, You feel as heavy as melted glass. Through the vessels and veins it will move, assuring you that you are not laid to waste, As it moves to the arteries, it will pick up more pace. Spreading from your torso to face. The spark of embers glowing in your blood, Searching for a resting place, it soon will flood. Like a bird searching to build a nest, The fire will fly like a tiny sparrow. There it will rest, when it reaches your marrow. The warm embrace, the rapture you feel, Only this fire in your bones can heel. The time has now come for the sun to set, This burning of the fire, not afraid to get wet. Nothing can extinguish it, so lay the pain to rest, Embrace yourself, you have passed the test. ~ Thom Written August 23rd, 2001 © on Jun 13 2001 03:21 PM PST 0 • 12
