[Twas a time not then or to come]
By tickledpink
Twas a time not then or to come When turtle shell glasses framed kaleidoscope eyes Of a lady with long lashes Who danced with the breeze And as she danced she sang with the sea And kept beat with waves that washed ashore And they crept back into the blue Tiptoeing not to disturb The resting old man Who lit up the sky While the sun went out to dance the night away And the maritime spirits would swirl and turn Doing pirouettes across the midnight sky. A tiny bird with silver voice Woke the sun And sang its love song to the morning As the dew bathed world The hummingbirds washed their minuscule wings On the petals of a rose Wee feet hopped across toadstools And played with the dandelions in delight. Wands made of brushwood woke the flora And the land was awake and shining its vibrant colors O so pleasing to the eye Aesthetically pleasing to not just any eye That of the lady with long lashes Who wore her turtle framed spectacles To frame the eyes that tinted all they surveyed In a rosy hue A silver lining on cellophane clouds Twists its way athwart the sapphire heavens Zealously chasing the wind So to capture Father Time In a game of hide and seek One not spied shall triumph And taste the sweets of the court With checkerboard tapestries and a floor of mossy green With music unsurpassed by that of the sea That floats past in billows of splendor And trickles down a crystal chalice Full of nectars sufficiently sweet for Aphrodite O to dance across the sands And feel the warmth tickle ones toes While spinning with arms outstretched To greet the eve and grasp the stars To pull them in and gaze as they glow Glitter, glimmer, and gleam See the shadows prance around As starlight flickers across ones face To reveal a twinkle within ones eye But what eye is this, this kaleidoscope eye Framed with turtle shell specs.
