SHADES

A cool shade of new A new shade of cool, not so Graded gray-blue Red horizon red aligning, redefining the view Fosters ultra “V” declining, grants a clearing, Spurn the glare and stare in secret Anonymity in tinted hue. Bar the framework, frames the brow Bar the “T” bar, bridge the golden matching now A shaded spectacle, bright fades in dissipation Shadows dark accentuation Sky blue burnout cools a better blue Greenfield waves afire, made just hot enough to cool. I see you So do you, See only you, not I Reflecting dark, concealing smiling eyes Cognito gazes casting Casting back the stares, indifferent, Curiosity refracting. Prideful suave your cool delight No longer seem they all that bright Rapid fire brush-off with a glance Veil the window, power black displays that give them not a chance Polarize and victimize Photo-gray to scrutinize Darken down to fantasize Lighten up to realize, Be realized? -Retreat! Double mirrored smoke protection Screen the ego refugee Hide the fatal self-reflection Do they answer, “Look at me?” Can’t you say? You can’t see? Shade reflecting shade Dark reflecting double darkness multiplied Shades the fashion, true opinions hide Like all others all alike unknown Alone in shaded self-concealing symmetry (Vanity?) More than cool, a spirit freezing mystery Serious in taken all too seriously? Vuarney vanish, how about it? Ultra coolness banish, sans synthetic visual tint? Chrome flash motorists will doubt it? Teach them starlight moon awaiting, meanwhile squint. Such this self-imposed reflective third degree See me clearly, look the look return, the optic soul of me. Heed the warning, let the seer true be seen, Shaded false reflections past redeem. Sober thoughts my friends and I examine and review Then smiles or devilish grins are traded as we, Spurning revolutionary sunglass liberty Once more don our tried and true, ultra cool, graded blue hypocrisies And flash a final double shaded ‘Jokes-on-you-know-who, Hey-ain’t-we-cool!?’Another College Years composition (April 14, 1985). Most ambitious work I did back then - also easiest and most fun. Written September 3rd, 2001 © on Jul 03 2001 12:32 AM PST   0 • 14
