Let Freedom Rain
Sitting here, I get the feeling Maybe there is no out side world These four walls are closing in And I can't take much more For many years we've fought the battle But will we ever win the war? Grandfather's look upon me I hear them chant 'forevermore' And it gives me strength Let freedom rain There's a place that I remember Where prairie meets a clear blue sky Our Mother's beauty-neverending Where GhostDancer's sing a warrior's cry And you could ride into forever While atop you trusted steed Where living in true freedom Didn't mean you had to bleed And it gives me strength Let freedom rain My family's smiles are burned forever In the sketching of my mind Echoes of laughter from my children And the Old Ones left behind I know one day I'll taste that freedom And I'll see them once again Till then I'll fight the good fight With the help of all my kin And that gives me strength Let freedom rain So on this day as I reflect These many blessings in my heart Every fiber of my being Threatening to fall apart And though white mans lies may keep me here Behind these walls of gray My Sprit soars above this place And they can't take that away This gives me strength Let freedom rain down on me ©2001 Crow Majik all rights reservedThis was written about Leonard Peltier in Jan. of 2001.....Leonard is an American Indian wrongfully imprisoned in Levanworth.
