Escaping the Minefield

By Tyre

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Beneath the blanket of stars shining bright Lies the breath of my soul's longing delight To escape into the world's enchanting dreams Freed from destruction and life's midnight screams What fear induces others to stay clear With bayonets blazing whenever they're near Or even my own engaging distress As frozen in a minefield without rest The answers must lie somewhere deep inside Where rivers join against the rising tide Which washes away both hope and despair Bathing together as though each would dare The rising tide has no conscience to hold And can only do what it has been told So I must determine what I must do To defuse the minefields before morning's dew Time gives no warning to the steps we make So approach with care for your life's loving sake That you may escape from the minefield's strife And enter into the dawn of your new life Written October 4th, 2001 © on Oct 04 2001 03:51 PM PST   10 • 0 • 1
