Lunch-Time Rendezvous (A Trucker's World)

I stepped out of my Big Rig... In the stillness of night I heard crickets talking The moonlight was bright Their shadows were walking. In the deepening of the night They appeared to have crept slow The wind was calm and light But, who knows where they would go The breeze seemed thickened to me Yet, still, crickets wandered around Humidity filled the air I breathed They had begun to hop to the ground. The moon had begun to spin The crickets had begun to scatter Dust blew in the wind But the crickets seemed awfully fatter The moon did set to an early sunrise The crickets have all gone home The sunlight blinded my weary eye I bet they were full to the bone... And, I said, Oh! Waitress, Please pour me a cup of coffee Sure looked like good weather to me. Written November 27th, 2001 © on Nov 27 2001 04:29 AM PST   0 • 10
