Old Man Winter
By UTTubby
Old Man Winter reappears wearing his chill upon my frown. He's arrived, traveling from the North, laughing like a jolly clown. Each year he has settled upon the cities, the towns, and the farms. Now, he ponders throughout the valleys and the mountains putting some of us at harm. Some Old Folks did die from his chill, but children did laugh and play. But, some folks hate Old Man Winter, yet, some want him to stay. Year after year his bitten frost has frozen my little frail spine. I wonder...(Should I be thankful for this nature of the wandering kind?) Each winter morn he whispers through my window while nipping at my toes. I've tried to be a friend to him, as he nips away at my nose. Sometimes he's angry when he blows through biting all that's in his path. Sometimes he's helpless as a lamb when Mr. Sun melts his wrath. I need not fret Old Man Winter, but heed his hearty freeze. I'll make the best of each new day hoping for Mr. Southern Breeze. Written November 12th, 2001 © on Nov 12 2001 02:53 PM PST 0 • 10
