Nymph, Sing to Me
By vithano
Nymph, come to me touch your lips to my ecstasy, link your arms with mine, dip your fingers into me and spell my name endlessly in the sorrowing sibilance of the sea. Forget the sun, the moon, the stars for me --- leave me nothing but naked to the sea, lead me in, show to me those paths the ancient mariners feared, where I have no choice but to swim. Nymph, sing to me. Sing me pearls and sunlit seas, sing me some of your memories, those mysteries of the sea. Gift me your embrace, for I am sinking now, and the air is far away --- Nymph, marry me. Wed your laughter to my mind, that song that sailors fear to hear --- not the fury of the oceans, but the wind’s lament dancing on the waves, that soul of the sea that sighs at night, only when the moon rises, and men are alone. Wrench my heart from me, and feed it fatuously. This heart is hollow --- put it to your ear and you shall hear the sea. Nymph, wreathed in gold and ivory, you have seen the sun for me. So while I shiver in the sea, collect my quiver in your lap, race it to the air above and let it breathe, let it breathe. Though I shiver endlessly, Race my quiver to the sun, And let it breathe, Let it breathe. Written November 12th, 2001 © on Nov 11 2001 10:40 PM PST 0 • 1 • 8
