The Door of Never Before 2

By Wesley Storer

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

(Rewrite) Somewhere in the Summer of 1964 I found the door of never before Where resides a picture of love That always my poor heart adores Its blessed peace sweetens my sleep Like sacred dreams the angels keep Just another soldier far from home Wandering the streets  all alone When miraculous accident or devine decree Brought me to heaven's family of three To that little ice cream parlor In Crailsheim Germany The Father Mother and Daughter Who blessed me with their love Shared their happiness from above Then the door closed forever Upon its memory that I adoreWell gosh darn it, I like people who like themselves, and I like this poem I wrote, because it makes me feel good to know that I wrote it. It is based on a true occurrence that happened to me in Crailsheim, Germany, when I was stationed there,in the 504th S And T Battion there, in 1964. I changed it, after receiving some worthy criticism. Thank you. Written February 4th, 2002 © on Feb 04 2002 07:55 AM PST   0 • 12
