The door of never before

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

(Crailsheim 1964) Somewhere in the Summer of 1964 I found the door of never before Where lived the picture of love Telling my heart forever adore Its blessed peace sweetens my sleep Like sacred dreams the angels keep Just another soldier far from home Wandering the streets so all alone When miraculous accident or devine decree Brought me to heaven's family of three To that little ice cream parlor In Crailsheim, Germany The Father Mother and Daughter Who blessed me with their love Shared the happiness of their love Beyond the door of never before Before closing forever more Upon its memory I forever adoreI was in the Army in Crailsheim, Germany in 1964, and this poem is based upon an actual occurence that happened to me in Crailsheim. I met so many wonderful, happy people in Germany that it continues to blow my mind to this day, and I cannot for the life of me, understand how W.W.II ever happened. I had some ice cream in that little ice cream parlor with just those three people, and I have never felt such devine love before or since. Of course, I was too stupid to know it at the time.
