Only in Dreams(A Challenge Poem)
By WolfsWhisper
Sun dipping in the west leaving pastel trails of color, as the moon rises to the heavens. Pin pricks of light begin to appear, Shining diamond studs on the canvas like sky of early night. Sitting upon a sandy hilltop, watching as the earth spins her course. Wrapped up in the moment of life at its highest. A soft wind blows by leaving goose-bumps on the skin, A shiver as the sky does further dim. Lay down on the cooling sand watching clouds swirl around. Feel the calmness and steadiness of the ground. At one with the earth and heavens. It's not the falling of the sun that I love so much, Or the lifting up of the silvery moon. It's not the stars appearing one by one, Or the darkness of midnight. For perfect things like this can't happen every day. Maybe once in a lifetime can a person see this sort of thing. But things such as this are more than common in dreams. Only in dreams is the sky so perfect, Does the wind caress one so tenderly. Only in dreams can you be with those departed, Those who cannot be with you for travel reasons. Anything can happen in the dream time. Animals pass on messages, You can tell those lost how much you miss them, And sit with those you love and just plain be. Dream time is the best time of the day, It passes with the rising of the morning sun, Begins as it slowly dips beyond the horizon, When the blackness of the void of night takes over.
