Little Girl

Faded ribbons falling from golden curls Bloody busted knees stain concrete rainbows Breaking mother's elegant string of pearls Placing secrets inside only he knows Lullabies softly fading into night Cries forgotten bleed from a child's soul Shivers beneath blankets in complete fright Footsteps heard that never lack their control Absent love like thorns on a budding flower Pricked naive fingers hidden in worn gloves Breathing toxicants that breed and devour Leaving the burden that pushes and shoves But Boogie Man is not under the bed, and the nightmares aren't only in your head.well.. this is a sonnet (without iambic pentameter) that I Had to write.. and what I want to know - is what you get out of it.. I want to know if the hidden message is as obvious as I think it is. Please tell me. Written February 19th, 2002 © on Feb 19 2002 02:33 PM PST 0 • 1
