Prelude to Tomorrow

Here in this solitude of night I cry out silently from my bed sheets and pray Searching through my untamed emotions I try to make sense of the intricate disarray It’s here in the silent calm of night That I find you waiting quietly for my thoughts I search through the maze of haphazard feelings Mindful of how this reality decays and rots I’m alone tonight These thoughts they won’t stop screaming (REFRAIN) Break into my mind Adonai Invade my very thoughts and make me see Come down into my heart, Lord on High Snap these bitter chains to set me free Because you and only you Can break me I’m falling on my knees tonight If only your majesty will come into this bedroom To take my thoughts away, far away For if I die tonight it will no doubt be too soon So I ask, fill me with your light Chase away the shadows and burn away my fears Awaken me from this earthly illusion So I may stand up and wipe away these tragic tears We’re alone tonight This heart it can’t stop pouring REFRAIN So here I stand tonight I might be shaken but I’m still on your firm rock I’ll look onward to tomorrow I may close up but alas you break the lock Thus I have hope tonight Now I have a purpose and a full pardon And so I rise up from this floor This heart may break but will never hardenThis song is the result of many bedside prayers growing up, and is just a simple pouring out of the heart.
