Johny's Smooth Move
By anniebella
Mary was a "Harvord girl" Or so he folks would say "Her beauty and wit whould take her far" But fate wouldnt have it that way Johny was a "mixed up kid" Who's mind would often wonder His curiosity and attitude Would often lead him a-sunder Mary drove a pick-up truck Saving up for college Went straight home to hit the books Adding to her knowledge Johny drove a nice corvette Roomy enough for all his buds Parties and bars night after night Where ever they found the suds Mary worked at Pick-A-Flick To earn much needed dough Watched love stories all day long And wished she had a beau Johny was a ladies man Women heard he came from money Was said he could have any girl Cause his kisses taste like honey Mary couldnt help but wonder What it was like to have some fun Just to cut loose and let it all go And maybe love someone Johny stopped by Pick-A-Flick Depressed he had no date Took one look into Mary's eyes And decided it was fate Mary knew she shouldnt have A mistake ever so slight Could mess up what she's worked hard for But, still, she agreed to Saturday night. Johny wanted to impress this one She was different than the rest He would pull out chairs and open doors And try to act his best Mary wore a cool red dress Nervously bit her bottom lip took one last look in the mirror And slid in her last hair clip Johny pulled up in her driveway Revved his engine once or twice Turned it off and went to the door He was speachless- she looked so nice Mary was dropped off at midnight Reluctant to get out of the car Let herself be kissed on the cheek Afraid she might go too far Johny went home happy Almost disposed of his little black book Studied it carefullyand then decided To give it one last look Marry had almost forgotten She borrowed Jahny's hat to cover windblown hair And with careful thought and a final decision She drove it straight over there Johny wasnt all that bright Thought he could have his cake and eat it too Dialed a number out of his precous book And over came Betty-Sue Mary smiled from ear to ear Couldnt wait to see Johny's face Was amazed when she drove up Betty-Sue's car was in what was s'pose to be her place Mary, devistated by what she'd seen Didnt want to go home just yet Decided to drive til she ran out of gas And see how far she'd get Johny turned on the news the next day To hear what he'd feared the most He had called all night long Mary had never came home Mary's eyes had filled with tears She's wipes them away so she could see But the tears came back again and again And she ran into quite a large tree Johny went to counceling To hear he wasnt to blame He paid good money but it didnt work Gee-what a shame Mary was a "Harvord girl" Or so her folks would say "her beauty and wit should take her far" But fate wouldnt have it that way.
