Armageddon
By bdgrey
I stand alone, a wasteland before me, and nothing aside from a vengeful sun to feel. Nothing but a barren desert, arid and dead, lays before my sunburned and hopeless eyes. With a soul long since departed, I am in wretched solitude, for the remainder of eternity, However long that might be, and it sounds pretty long. With a sky crimsoned in blood, from the souls of dead angels who vainly fought, only to lose all what was once so cherished. Not a single life now exists where once were trillions, and not a single world exists where once stood billions. Love failed, hope died and memories were lost, just fast enough for no one to notice, that what was being lost is all that is human. So with this universe, and I the only one left, I have but one memory to build upon. For in Heaven, if it still exists, lives my only happiness. The sun beats down with the weight of a burn, and the desert is dry with calloused soil, yet somewhere lies hope and my long lost soul. Written January 22nd, 2002 © on Jan 21 2002 04:12 PM PST 0 • 12
