Burnt at the Stakes (Pt. 1)
By bdgrey
Withstanding great tests of time passing by, a city in ruins still boasts of grand stature. Little is known of the stories it holds, for all that is heard comes in the form of written word. No ancestors to tell the tale of its past, for they all disappeared in mysterious fashion. A ubiquitous aura encircles its grounds, to the depths of its cellars, and the heights of great crowns. A tribe born to peace with passive resistence, finally lost all, at the hands of the merciless. What once was so beautiful, and of revolutionary design, now stands humbled with memories left behind. A great wall surrounds the whole of the city, yet now there are holes, standing in precarious fashion. Atop the "great hill" a chapel was born, where once slept the emperor, ere the days of forlorn. Yet as if to remind us of how tragedy takes form, a crucifix, charcoaled, stands erect in the center. There lives a fable, though how true is unknown, of two boys from different worlds, becomning true friends. This is where the greatest story lives untold, for it has been erased by time, and only now is it reborn.Okay, this is another one of my movie/book ideas, that I pray will one day become a reality. Depending on the response, depends on whether I pursue this, or just let it end here. Thus far I haven't been too satisfied with my past attempts at serial poems, because very rarely have the same people come back, night after night, aside from a select few. This story if told, I promise will be worth it, because it is one of my best ideas, probably second or third. I hope you all enjoy it, and I am eager to hear your thoughts. Thank you.
