Jukebox Tune
By bdgrey
The jukebox plays an old familiar tune. The power of music is of moments old and new. It's funny how a melody brings back a memory. How it takes us back to a time before. Each note hits bringing that old familiar rush, causing reminiscence long ago hushed.Losing sense of space and time, just sitting there listening to each articulate rhyme.Nothing can be done to quiet the mind. The heart also feels and responds with a quickened pace, when taken to that far and ancient place.A bubble develops that only one can see,and within its confines either peace or sorrow is reached. And as quickly as it started, the song ends, and the bubble is inevitably breached.Reality sets in and everything is as before.Until that day sometime in the future the song is played again, and back into a sub-conscious state you are taken. The jukebox plays an old and familiar tune, and I reflect of what I once knew. And I am no longer sorry for what I have missed, because where I sit is a result of it.Who here hasn't heard a song on the radio, and have it cause emotions to flood back. Music is such a powerful tool, and it is so important in everyone's life. Almost every song I hear has a meaning to it. Enrique Iglesias 'Hero' reminds me of September 11. 'I Believe I Can Fly' reminds me of an ex-girlfriend. It's so amazing how powerful a guitar chord or piano key can be. Written November 27th, 2001 © on Nov 26 2001 04:30 PM PST 17 • 0 • 12
