My Lone Jealousy
By bdgrey
I have grown jealous of the carefree world, that our feathered friends live in. Why do they get to travel to such great heights, while I remain stranded, miles below? If I were to be given just one wish in life, it would be to simply fly, so that I may feel the wind cleanse my soul, and so that I may view the world as never before. When I look to the boundless reaches of the sky, there I see outlined by the sun, graceful icons with limitless pride. They have seen lands envisioned only in dreams, and travelled distances I've never seen. The beauty and grace of an eagle, the swiftness of a falcon, and the sacred aura of a heron. To take flight just once, for a minute, would allow possibilities beyond all fantasy. So to all the creatures that travel by flight, you are an inspiration, and I am humbled by your divine right. Only when I die will I be given my wings, and I will live amongst you, as I look down on the world below, with a whole new perspective on all that I love.I think we all wish we could fly. In due time my friends, in due time. Written January 14th, 2002 © on Jan 13 2002 04:11 PM PST 0 • 12
