Night
By bdgrey
The sun sets quickly fading into its starlit state, As the sky becomes purple and stars pop into sight. Clouds now outlined in the quickly dimming light, As a gentle breeze softly moves without a moment’s rest. The world becomes darker only guided by the moon’s glow, Disappearing and reappearing above low hanging clouds. Very little can be heard aside from a cricket’s sound, And from faint whispers barely audible in a muffled wind. Nocturnal images come out to play living by shroud of night, With the silent flutter of tiny bats as they begin to hunt. The owls sit in mystery, never quite as blunt, And with one quick motion they take their prey and vanish into the forest. The world at night can be seen by most as that of great unknowns, But the only difference between that and day lies in the sun and moon. For in both worlds that never touch, ambiguity always looms, For it is in the eye of the beholder to see things for what it’s worth. Each person is as different as night and day, And therefore one in the same. Written January 13th, 2002 © on Jan 12 2002 05:29 PM PST 17 • 0 • 10
