Returning to the Past (my century poem!)

For those that took the time to read mystsaint's and my collaboration poem, this is my version of it. We took both our minds, my imagery and her emotion, and put them together to make the poem. A castle forgotten through the course of time, stands broken and ruined by its test of life. Shrouded eternally by a faded green miasma, what light does break through is yellow and sickly. Encircling this palace of tormented souls, is an emaciated moat long ago run dry, with cracked skulls and swords between its banks wry. A draw bridge once strong and mysterious, lays splintered no longer attached to rusty chains. A solitary window of stained glass hope, now appears jaded and faded, cracked and with gaps. Where once layed the soft feel of Scotish grass, now exists an arid desert with no forms of life. Trees once bright and blushing with life, are black, ominous and chilling at night. Four towers stand facing each cardinal direction, serving as prisons for those dead so many years ago. The woman walks in remembering her past, of heartbreak and loss of her loved ones so fast. The plague still lives here in a molded dead state, and the air is musty, suffocating at best. The final chapter of her life has finally begun, for she has returned weary, to the resting place of her love and their son. Home at last to this vile place of much anguish, to find peace in her heart and to let go her lost soul. That's right, this is my 100th poem! Yay! I can't belive I've finally reached the century mark. I remember in late October when I came here, and I wrote my first poem. I didn't know anyone, and I had no idea of what to expect from this site. I had never written poetry before, and I think I've come a long way in these past few short months. Thank you everyone who has read my poetry, and who has been so kind and inspiring in my life. It is because of you that I believe I can make it as a writer. Thank you all so very much from the bottom of my heart. Bryan Written January 25th, 2002 © on Jan 24 2002 04:09 PM PST   0 • 1
