Till the End, and Then Back to the Beginning

We lay together after seventy years of love, never apart for more than a few hours. Our love grew stronger as the years went on, and your beauty never faded despite age. Now after so many years I know we have made it, when so many doubted, even ourselves. You ask how can I look at you with so much surprise, like I haven't seen you everyday of our lives. The answer is simple. It's because of pure, undying love. Your hair may have grayed, as did mine, but we became closer over the course of time. So now we lay here, with only one night to live, we have made it my dear, to the end. You always said, and I agreed completely, that they only way to die, would be in each other's arms. Well here we are ready to take the leap, into immortal sleep with our souls as one. Your warmth is so comforting to my aged skin, just as it was way back then. I look into your eyes, no longer afraid, of what lies ahead, beyond the grave. We hold each other tightly, knowing this is the end, but really not, for eternity awaits. And that's it. Our eyes close as we hold each other so close, and our spirits rise with you by my side. Don't ever let go. For it is only the beginning, of another chapter in our soulsThis is where I hope to be when I die. With the love of my life by my side. If we should make it this far, then where else will we go? Guess I'll have to wait and see. Written December 29th, 2001 © on Dec 28 2001 04:26 PM PST   0 • 8
