Time Sealed
By bdgrey
We were taking a walk, through a park covered in frost, as our breath hung in the air, when it happened. I looked into your eyes as they reflected the stars, and told you how I felt to the beat of my heart. You looked so surprised with that gleam in your eyes, as I bent down on one knee and presented to you the ring. A tear fell down your cheek as your teeth chattered solemnly, when I placed the saphirre around your shivering finger. We embraced each other with a passion unmatched, and there I knew our love would eternally last. Out from the woods came a stranger sincere, smiling as he uttered kind-hearted words. He said it was great for two people to love, and that we were both lucky with best wishes to us. Then without compassion he yielded a gun, wanting our money and all things of value. Yet what he didn't know, was that you were the one. A struggled ensued over the birthstone of engagement, and a shot rang out, as you fell to the ice anguished. I held your body as you began to die, the intruder fled, and fear entered your placid eyes. Then without warning your body grew limp, and there I died inwardly as my heart grew thin. The rest of my life, I had wished for an answer, of why I could not change the past, or find the courage to just give up. Given the chance I would return to the past, So that I may die by your side, and live in the light. Yet I continued to live so as not to grow selfish, in hopes that in Heaven we will be together again. I fear that all I may accomplish, is to live forever in that moment, watching you die over and over. But atleast we'd have the minutes, leading up to that conclusion.
