Sleep
By BigDadda
I was sleeping one day When I awoke in the middle of a life. And tried to find value In the things I did that day. The way the hours took me The company I kept. Food consumed by me And places where I slept. To find merit in my actions And reason in my being I found the place where Angels sleep Is not all that is seems. The stupor of gratification Had come to live with me, And I must learn to control it If I am to be free. Free from sleeping the day Of my one and only life. To feel the pain of accomplishment No matter what the price. And I sometimes wonder, If I slept till my death. What people would miss my touch? What memories would I have left?
