Innocence
By BlaZe
We are born as innocent beings, Into this planet of corruption. A world where wrong can seem right, And right so easily appear wrong. We grow up as innocent children, Blind to the harsh world that surrounds us. Unaware of the appalling crimes being committed, Ignorant of man’s cruel habits. We grow older and thus wiser. Becoming aware of our surroundings, And the sick environment in which we live, Anger thrives as we realise what the world has come to. Our innocence has been stolen from us, Lost from childhood to adulthood. What once was a simple hassle free life, Is now so complicated we want to escape. Is this God’s cruelest punishment? In a flash, before we have had time to enjoy it, Our innocence is gone. Stolen from us as if we were undeserving. Without innocence we now must face these frightening issues, These issues we were happily ignorant of before. Life is so complicated now, Without innocence we ourselves feel like criminals. Growing up is not only about the loss of innocence though, We now have the power and maturity to make decisions. It is our chance to change the world we live in, Our chance to make the world a better place for all. If we can all do some good, Maybe when the next generation loses their innocence, They won’t wake up to a world of corruption, But one of kind and caring love – The love of life and the world we live in.Something i miss greatly - Innocence!!! if only we had longer time to enjoy it Written December 10th, 2001 © on Dec 10 2001 01:20 AM PST 0 • 12
