Life's Lesson
By BlaZe
On the keyboard of life My finger is forever poised above the ESC key. I find myself forever in strife, Never knowing how to act or who to be. I wake up every morning Wanting and trying to be me, But I seem forever to be in mourning. I do not understand how they cannot see The irreversible damage I have been dealt From my parents who seem so far away. If only they knew how it felt To be all alone on this gloomy day I’m always told to look for opportunity, “The windows key,” they say in concern, “May hold the solution to liberty.” Maybe with desire my dreams will return. The transparent windows suggest a world of beauty so unmistakable. I am eager to be on the other side, strive for ambition. But this glass is unbreakable It locks me into a life of isolation. I have been taught many things in my life But learnt only one message Life is the only lesson you learn, And it is only taught when you’re through. --------------------~~~(#)~~~-------------------- * Pushes the escape key *Generally i write poems within a day, sometimes within an hour. This poem has been building line by line for about 6 months now and it started after hereing the song lyrics in a Limp Bizkit song (mission impossible 2 theme) Take a Look ARound: "Life is a lesson, you learn it when your through." I found that line quite relevant to todays quite suicidal youth and i attempted to write a poem considering it. Written January 29th, 2002 © on Jan 29 2002 02:06 AM PST 0 • 9
