Flickering Flame
A violent storm rages around me, Claps loud and flashes bright Branches pounding my window as The rain pours down in the deep night. I light a single, tall candle Blowing the match out with care Watching that little flame flicker While I climb into my chair. I pull my legs tight to my chest Imagining what could have been Thoughts playing across my mind, On strings of an imagined violin. My eyes return to the tiny fire as It ignites a spark in my heart. I am surrounded by dark fury, but These black clouds will soon depart. Written July 25th, 2001 © on Jul 30 2001 02:22 PM PST 0 • 12
