My Sailor
I never thought you'd leave me there On the platform in the rain. My coat was drenched, my hair was soaked And you just boarded that train. The only choice you'd given me was to Shed a few more tears While I watched you speed away to Leave me with my fears. You had promised that you loved me and would Stay for my whole life And I was certain that you'd have soon Asked me to be your wife. I was being punished for a war that Never was my fault But because some strangers started it My life was put on halt. A year ago one of those strangers visited To bring an envelope for me. But still I haven't broken the seal for I know my sailor is lost at sea.I should note that this isn't my personal experience... it's writing from a character that I created. My greatest apologies to all who thought this was a true story. Thank you for reading. Written July 30th, 2001 © on Jul 30 2001 03:29 PM PST 0 • 1
