Motion Sickness
By catseyes
There is a queasiness in my stomach, where calm once paddled at a steady pace. Now below me, all is rough and uneasy, an unsettling storm of emotion like a sucking undertow. It is the shifting and swaying, the constant rocking, an unanswered knocking, tilting my world upward, then drowning it in a pool of afterthoughts and forget-me-nots. But I keep on rowing, fighting the current that wants to swallow everything. And as the water pours in, I bale faster than it can consume me. I bale, because if i can't breathe I die.
