Back Seat Lover

By Chris Kramer

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Back seat lover takes my hand Leads me towards the promised land Buttons to be loosened, clothes to be shed Large items used as pillows for the head We used to park at the drive-in show (But they tore that place down long ago) We tried the state park just the other night But got interrupted by a shining flashlight Sure was frustrating opening up that door (Cause a minute more, maybe a score ...) Some young park ranger demanded to know If I had purchased a pass with my dough Heck No! I said ... I came to park The lot was empty and it is dark I have no picnic basket and will not camp So do me a favor ... turn off that lamp! Lucky for us he decided to drive away No ticket was issued to us that day ... If you are a backseat lover, listen to what I say Next time you have the urge ... use your own driveway!
