Mountain Picnic
By Chris Kramer
My love and I have waited Forever it seems to me Cheese, wine and crackers Always packed for occasionally As we travel side a mountain backdrop Searching for the perfect site A meadow of wild flowers comes into view A squeeze of my hand tells me its right Yellow Snapdragon and Indian Paint Brush Purple Daisy and Columbine Our journey for a site ends Now begins our together time We sense our connection with nature We glance with awe at the scene around Kissing her lips, touching her face Descending slowly towards the ground The babbling of the brook below The song of meadowlark in a tree Sounds for a picnic for two lovers Whose beating hearts add to the symphony As clouds gather overhead above us We sense change about to occur Droplets of rain begin to descend We race for cover ... hoping it won't endure Under a spruce we find our cover From the squall as it passes on through We laugh and cuddle closer than ever The storm ceased in a minute or two A mountain picnic can be a challenge So pack plenty of love when you go Because nature has always intended Lovers to enjoy the whole show Written October 24th, 2001 © on Oct 24 2001 12:32 PM PST, Chris Kramer 0 • 8
