Dandelion Petals

Tears are all I cry tonight…Left on the tip of my tongueAre the actions to mark my doom.In silence I scream, only hoping one thingThat perhaps you can hear me tonight,Maybe that you could make this all be alright…And so I fret… in all my innocenceMy fragile heart craves youMy aching soul quivers in the candlelight of my happinessAll I want could be blown awayLike dandelion petals in a summer’s breezeBut this tempest in my heart will not let me be…So with one simple action…Oh, so destructive action…Have I calmed my turbulence within? At what price must I realize that I can love only you?To lose all that I believe in… to kiss my dreams to sleep…Am I so weak that I can be manipulated by his hand? His gentle eyes that have scarred my face…Just by his glance? The quiet river that runs so deep…Am I such a fool to be lost in his eyes? When love has handed me my coat and hatAnd shown me the door many a times? Why must I be reluctant to leave? And why must I care so for his safetyAfter all the harm he has caused me?God help me cut those stringsThat bind me to his ever-changing gazeThat hold me tight when I wish to be at bayLet me mend my bruises before they build a wound…And given a chance my love…I will never be this way…Never to let another so closeTo the danger that I have seen…Forgive me for what I have doneFor what mischief has sprung from your kindnessFor the damage that I have doneFor I do love you…And you are within my heart,As sure as the sun will rise and the moon will change,You will always find love in my heartAnd home in my arms.
