Open Your Eyes and See
By dannerman
The title of the preacher's sermon Was "Open your eyes and see." But when he first said that, I didn't know what it meant to me. I listened anyway, clueless to the meaning Of a sermon obviously so well prepared About a man who gave his life So that all of us were spared. It started to make sense - What the preacher was saying. At the end of the church service, I couldn't help but start praying. I prayed for forgiveness To a man named Jesus Christ, And that day I'm proud to say I asked Jesus into my life. My life is changed now, But it's for the better. 'Twas all because Of that simple prayer. Though sometimes I doubt my faith When times begin to get tough But then I remember Jesus Who had it even more rough. The hardships never end Because of Satan's opposing force But I know that in the end We will overcome them - of course! When I first got saved And heard the altar call I decided that then was the time I opened my eyes and saw! (c) 1996, Tim Danner1996, Many people ask me if this is a personal testimony. No, it is not. It originally was written for a poetry competition back in 1996, however I missed the deadline for submission. Oh well, I think it's still a nice poem even if it didn't win any prizes.. *grin*.
