Broken windows

Broken Windows By Darmok 1/22/02 (At times) I liken myself to an obscure rock Or piece of glass that has found It’s way upon a beach. Tumbled and worn, the cutting edges And corners that gave it character, Are weathered smooth into generic conformity By the will of overwhelming circumstance. Ages have long since Plucked me from my majestic rest. There along the cliffs that over look The vast and endless blue. Through windows shattered and fallen, A journey of diminishing dreams Seems an eternity of forever. Chaos and fates guide me To what inevitably will be my rest; There buried, drowned, or forever aloft On currents that have no respect for the broken, The forgotten, the dust of the earth. Should I ever settle and join the Ilk of all that has passed Within the layers of sediment And sentiment, the record of my life Will be placed. In clumps of clay There I will lie, a journey far From the rocks and windows I broke.A reflection of those moments when dispair felt so eternal.
