Darkness

By Darmok

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I hope this is not too strange for you? This is written with the perspective of one looking out from a portal as the earth comes into view....first a spec and then that magnificant blue gem....only you're blind... and you ask someone...is it beautiful?                       “Darkness”                       by Darmok                       2/26/98                       We are born blind,                       innocent from the womb.                       In the dark we are all equal,                       one colorless room.                       Shut out the light, close your eyes,                       tell me what you see.                       Look through the eyes of Earth’s demise,                       paranoid visions ....insanity.                       What does humanity look like away from the light.                       Dark seascape of space.                       A majestic view of humanity’s hope,                       cradled in your hands... against your face.                       Darkness hides our fears,                       shadowed creatures of our minds.                       Creeping, crouching... in the dark,                       lurk the Ids that keep us blind.(just figured out what to do with this) This is commentary on man's darkside. The id within us all (truth, yes?). The id is there, most of us do not allow it to govern our actions our lives our ethics. But racisim, hate, predjudice is born of that seed. I contrast the begining of life to that of our Id for emphasis. In the womb, we were all innocent. I'm not asking you to close your eyes to life, but to take a glimpse of that darkness, perhaps your own, and dare acknowlege the insanity for a moment. Now take a look at earth from your space ship portal, that majestic blue gem. Push your face to the window and stare at her beauty amidst the landscape of deep space. As she grows smaller you can almost cradle her in your hands, there being the imagery of her hope, YOU. You've got the whole world in your hands...... No, eyes wide open! Beware the darkness, the unseen..the ids plot Written November 15th, 2001 © on Nov 15 2001 09:54 AM PST, Darmok    0 • 9
