A Box of Chocolates
© 2/3, 14/2002 Dennis L. Pickering Life’s like a box of Chocolates You don’t know what you’re gonna get From this life that is often wet Can instigate you to beget Your existence within this realm You control, being at the helm Of the ship which can overwhelm Your acquisitions from this realm. It is unformed like wet concrete Sometimes can taste ever so sweet It can sometimes taste bitter too Mostly at times you’re feeling blue If you pick a cream one, it’s good. Makes you do what you think you should? Some think the mint ones taste divine But the cherry ones make you shine. The nut-filled ones enhance the chance For you to propagate romance. With others who might take the chance Lift their life, cause it to enhance. Butter-brickle is a good taste Although it can cause you to waste All the things you have tried to paste Into your essence with much haste. The brickle makes you not fickle? Hope it causes not the pickle To grace the “buds” of your sweetheart Which will cause you to have to start. An existence in which you gain Those past things that you did refrain From acquiring with disdain ’Cause you thought they brought only rain. If you select one caramel Doesn’t have to make you raise hell But can help you release your shell Boost consciousness in which you dwell. The maple ones make you recall Happenings when you were just small You recall the one that was tall And did help you play with your ball. Peanut butter ones are pleasant Even for you pleasant peasant Though the “butter” sticks to your teeth That “butter” does not cause you grief Finis Written February 16th, 2002 © on Feb 16 2002 06:57 AM PST, Dennis Pickering 17 • 0 • 12
