Dave & Jill
I saw an old wedding invite for a nephew and niece to be and wrote this to send them in a happiness card I've yet to make. Got a start anyway. © 3/1/2002 Dennis L. Pickering Dave & Jill I hope this note does find You two within that most welcome rind. The succulent watermelon of marriage Always you two ride within the carriage. Of fortitude with happiness to share And of slight acquaintances do beware. ’Cause they can muss and tangle up loves hair Accept this truth from me ‘cause I was there. Remember to look upon the other As your everything not as your brother. And your life’s better than with your mother ’Cause things you no longer have to cover. Isn’t that how all of your lives should be? Laughing merrily under the same tree. On all items you hopefully agree ’Cause marriage to you two is never wee. Maybe the word “all” is too conclusive ’Cause those items can be more elusive Than any of us would choose them to be We have to catch them when we shake the tree!
