Pickering Free verse writing’s a bunch of sh_t It’s only prose and takes little wit Some are nice stories but just can’t git Reverence of a true poets wit Since you think you’re a poet let’s have Something besides “free verse” which is sad In essence it comes from but a lad From an immature girl or your Dad Who may know not how to construct verse With rhythm and rhyme which isn’t terse Or travesty, withheld from a curse Which you all acquire from this terse verse This “free verse” is only for filling Up someone’s hard disk, which is chilling And totally unnecessary Unless they are but seeking quarry And if that is the case, which I doubt It should cause you to certainly shout “What an incomprehensible lout!” Although that may be what it’s all ’bout Written November 17th, 2001 © on Nov 22 2001 04:17 PM PST, Dennis Pickering 17 • 0 • 10
