The Boarded Window - (SCARY STUFF)

I have a short story of a guy that I know He and his wife lived in a cabin with a boarded window No light could come in, no light could go out This is how my story all came about... My friends name was Murlock and boy he was old He and his wife are whom this story is told The cabin they live in was many miles away People would come by, but far they would stay Murlock came home found his wife unconsciousness with fever For three days and nights he stayed up to treat her The third day had come and she'd passed away he had thought Today, will be the day I prepare her burial plot He worked on it all day and most of the night He dressed her so beautiful, made her coffin just right He worked till sundown so he wouldn't feel weepy He dug and prepared that he wore himself sleepy He laid her on the table to wait for the suns caress While he napped on the other side to get him some rest He drifted into a dream feeling she was still alive But, yet he kept hearing footsteps could this have been his wife? He woke up in a scared sweat and grabbed for his gun He shot it in the air hoping, whatever it was, would run The light of the gun fire showed a mean panther But, the loud noise of the gun, made this black panther scamper Murlock then grabbed for his wife, but she seemed to be missing This hideous creature drug her body through the kitchen It knawled on her neck and her arm and her feet This creature was obvious looking for something to eat The panther went back through the window that was now broken Poor Murlock laid with his wife without a word to be spoken But, in the end of this sad story is the thing to really fear Laid pieces in this woman's teeth of the panthers right ear.I was challenged to write this by a friend of mine. It is based on a short story but the author of Ambrose Bierce. He actually grew up not to far from where I live now, but back in the 1800's. The story is called The Boarded window. If you wish to read this story you can go to yahoo and type in a search engine for THE BOARDED WINDOW. One of the best short stories ever written in my opinion. Hope you enjoy the poem. :) Written November 17th, 2001 © on Nov 17 2001 05:40 AM PST, Lee Gillilan   10 • 0
