I tried (for you)

By Doc Watson

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I tried to write a poem last night to tell you how i feel but the words scribbled out before me didn't seem quite real words like forever, always, true somehow aren't enough for you there's little that will rhyme with love namely things like above and dove those words don't even begin to start to tell you what is in my heart to say each breath i ever take reminds of the sounds you make to say that every step i walk reminds me of our endless talks (until i fall asleep) to say to have you in the room scares away the darkest gloom (are you real) to know you make my life complete filling holes i didn't see nothing i can ever say can satisfy my soul no poem seems to say enough it leaves me wanting more just know i tried for you and with every ounce of me i love you and i love you twice for all eternityi hope one day i can write a poem that is worthy of you...of the eight i have attempted, only three are worth anything. i tried, and i will continue to try Written January 7th, 2002 © on Jan 07 2002 12:48 PM PST   0 • 8
