Through the Eyes of a Beast

By DoubleD

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

The air is crisp and dull The wind whips at my face My hooves hit the hard ground And crush the stones into sediments Some would see this as a MIRACLE But I do not... One of my own runs behind me as a rope swiftly flys, but misses Some would see this as TRAINING But I do not... Another disappears in the darkness known as death He will not return Some would see this as a long DREAM But I do not... The prison is small, but up in the air I soar Across the rails of redeement Some would see this as FREEDOM But I do not... I must go back, I think to the one I love Some would see this as STUPIDITY But I do not... Something moves With wheels that turn Some would see this as MAGIC But I do not... A whinny is cried but I am so close Some would se this as a CHASE But I do not... I run to the door And unhook the latch He is away at last Some would see this as SUCESS But I do not... The air is cold and threating The road is long and rough Some would see this as a SET BACK But I do not... Over a hill, to a gully And into the waters we jump Some would see this as a THRILL But I do not... No horse and saddle dare jump and freedom is so near Wildness is apon us And life as we know it goes on Some would see this as a victory As do I...This poem was written from the eyes of a horse, one that is trying to be caught to be taken to be slaughtered. I wrote this poem for a contest in my guild, but I thought I'd add it here as well... Any critique would be appriciated...
