It was a hot summer day, one I cannot forget, A day filled with mixed emotions: relief, but regret. I was to scared to say no, And because of my fear, you no longer grow. I dream every night of eyes so blue, Your soul so innocent, beautiful and true, I dream every night of your hair so gold, I feel like that day, my soul I sold. I dream every night of your soft touch, The action already taken, but regret so much. Because of our selfish actions, you're no longer here, Cannot show my emotions, not even a single tear. For only three knew of your life, He and I, and now his new wife. We knew that we were never meant to be, Therefore our decision was made easily, But first not without tears of utter sadness, For you weren't the one to blame for our mess. The shame and guilt I continue to feel, My dreams tell the tale of a life so real, I'm so sorry I was afraid to say no, It is because of my fear, that you no longer grow.Though I feel we made the right decision for us at the time, I still dream of a what could have been, had I not been so afraid to allow it.
