The day Gaia DIED

By ecologist

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I dreamt      of fire/ice      felt blood thaw/melt      freeze      leaving icicle tears      beneath stone eyes      and each breath       shattered      under the weight       of truth, frozen      by ignorance,      greed.      Vexed, I stood      watching      oceans vomit forth      rusted memories      and mush white skeletons      in disgust      as acid reflux      caused GAIA to belch      one great       molten, steamy burp.      My mind screamed      incessantly      as I watched       ignorant trolls      walking upright      in Armani Silks      and Oxfords      after proudly stealing      life       from innocents      who were born      surrogate slaves to civilisation.      I heard      a silent keening      it reached inside      with visceral ease      pulling on life's essence      with each       incessant pound of      dynamite, machine hammers      and steel tamper.      Lastly, I cried      for the birds, the trees      the insects, the animals      lost, and to be lost      from this burning,       poisoned ark      crossing Magellans Universe      without sight of water       to stop the fire      or the poison.
