Faith
By EdF
For savages, gods permeate the world. They are the wind, the moon, the stars, the sun. When gentle dawn reveals the earth unfurled, Its beauty and divinity are one. But folly is this all to modern man. We know what lights the sun and fills the sky: Photons, thrown off from molten hydrogen, Impinge our senses, causing stimuli. The core of all religion is belief. A faith in something that can not be proved. As science probes the world without relief, The further from us the unknown is moved. Where have we left our Lord to call his home? What stone unturned, what long forgotten place? Perhaps he sleeps beneath the quantum foam, Or in the darkest breach of outer space. Written December 19th, 2001 © on Dec 18 2001 03:44 PM PST 0 • 10
