Listen, Please
By fredhib
Listen Along fenced-line-split realities Pacing trampled bare-earthed perplexities On the edge, unfairness stoking angers fires He confronts surrendered freedoms and hope Please don’t talk; Walk with me – listen. Razor sharpened stupidity Keeps Australia from reaching in for me. So From roof-topped impossibility, He shouts “Freedom” And four disinterested desert winds whisper To a country misled, not inclined to listen. Across a dust-blown and a stone-peppered wasteland-compound Daily, He drags ebbing hope Passed sad tear-tired and emptied eyes That stare beyond the gate And wait …. And wait …. And wait …. Is anyone listening? 3/03/2002 Written April 15th, 2002 © on Apr 14 2002 11:44 PM PST 18 • 0 • 10
