Eighteen Again

By Gina145

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I'll never be eighteen again, I'll never get the chance To get up on an empty stage And dance a carefree dance. I'd love to be eighteen again With the knowledge of my years, But can you have the knowledge Without the grownup fears? If I were eighteen again, What choices would I make? Perhaps I'd be a doctor And heal for healing's sake. Perhaps I'd be the lawyer Who'd bring justice to the world, Maybe just a plain hairdresser, Keeping Madonna's fine locks curled. I'll never be eighteen again, Perhaps it's just as well, I'd still be simply me again Through my heaven and my hell, I'd never be a doctor, I can't stand the sight of blood, If I lived another's dream, My life would be a dud. I'd never be a lawyer, Nor hairdresser to a star, If I can't be Madonna, I'd rather watch her from afar. Written March 1st, 2002 © on Mar 01 2002 08:30 AM PST   0 • 10
