Arizona Nights II
By Gunslinger
I slept last night in Houston- And I liked those city lights. But I recall the starry skies, Of Arizona nights. Coyotes’ eerie howling- Out around the Mogollon... The big cats softly prowling Now I wonder where they’ve gone... I recall the smell of sagebrush- And the tumbleweeds around... The thirsty desert licking Every raindrop from the ground. The Gila monsters lying- In the sunshine on the rocks, While a weary hand is riding, As he looks for missing stock. But those days are far behind me, And I know I’m growing old. But the memory’s more precious, Than the world and all it’s gold. I’ve been a lot of places- And I’ve seen my share of sights- But I love those open spaces... And those Arizona nights.
